"Mitten" Skills
This pattern will print out three pair of mittens which you can program with a needed skill, i.e. compound words, math fact practice, missing letters, etc.  Just print them out, program, laminate, cut out and use. I printed them originally on colored card stock to save coloring time. mitten pattern

How Many will Fit?  Graphing Center Activity
Materials;
box lid (I use a lid from a box of regular sized copy paper),
Contac paper,
1 sheet of 12x18" construction paper,
mitten,
graphics of 5 or 6 animals, approx. 2"x2",
marker.
Procedure;
Make 12-14 copies of each animal graphic; mount on card stock or poster board, laminate, and cut out.  If you don't have a mitten, make one from felt of fabric scraps, stitch or hot glue it together and turn it inside out.  Make sure it is bid enough for the students' hand to go inside.  Cover the lid of the box with Contac paper.  Cut the piece of construction paper large enough to fit inside the box lid.  Divide so that you have one column for each animal plus one extra to show the numerals 0-14.  Draw off 15 horizontal lines, then mark each line with a numeral, 0-14, leaving the bottom line for an extra graphic of each animal.
To play:
A student puts on the mitten, and '"carefully" grabs a handful of animal shapes.  He/she then puts one animal in each space above the correct graphic.
Extension:  More experienced students might draw their own
