Scott Mikkelson
Scott has a Master of Science in theoretical physics with a computational analysis emphasis. He has Bachloreates in Mathematics, Physics, and Philopsophy from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. He has taught undergraduate physics at UW-Madison, and has worked as a telescope system specialist at the Joint Astronomy Center on Mauna Kea.
Scott is philosophically an American Pragmatist, who appeals to a coherence theory of science rather than the standard correspondence theory. His major influences have been Kuhn and the later Wittgenstein. He is a student of history, and is particularly interested in the early christian church.
Although from a traditional scientific background, a number of factors lead to his interest in alternative scientific endeavors. A certain amount of disillusionment with mainstream science. Mischaracterization of the nature of science in the popular culture. Recognition of the fact that with a mediocre intellect, there is little room to excel in the normal channels- but with a superior creativity and point of view, science is ripe with discoveries waiting to be made. And finally, a collegiate friend of the renown Robert McElwaine, who while way out there on many issues, was always able to present more evidence supporting his claims than could those who dismissed him out of hand.
