Were our ancient ancestors in possesion of star maps of skies that are foreign to our own? Did they build structures incorporating these star charts? Were they recorded throughout time but we simply haven't recognized them for what they are since they don't correspond to any recognizable constellations? These are questions that this research project addresses. We can draw no conclusions at this time as the research is just beginning. But with some work, we will be able to answer these questions.

Univeral to all human cultures is a fascination with the night sky. To see patterns, to place religious significance on them, to build structures imitating them, to navigate by them. But when civilizatoins die and religions pass into obscurity, the architecture remains. The Great Egyptian Pyramids, Stonehenge and the European Megaliths, Mayan Architecture all pay homage to these patterns in the sky. Even modern science classifies the sky according to ancient constellations. But what if we found evidence that an ancient civilizations had utilized patterns that were not from our view of the sky, but a view of the sky from a different star system? Constellations of a sky unknown to us, used by travellers to mark locations the same way that our sailors and astronomers have used our own constellations. The goal of this project is to search for those constellations.

Our science has finally advanced to a point where we can calculate what the nearby universe looks like from any position in space. If we can find that some ancient people used one of these skyviews, in thier architecture, thier symbols, or thier language, it would be a discovery that would change all of archeaology, astronomy, and history.

However, due the incredible number of possible ancient sites and symbols to be analysed, as well as overlooked ways to use the imaging analysis, that we alone cannot exhaust the data set for this work. There is opportunity for anyone that has an interest to take part in this research. The software has been developed such that only minimal computer knowledge is required along with a basic knowledge of geometry.

Other pressing matters having subsided, active support of CAAS research is set to resume in April.

I put up the free starmap drawer for download, you can use it to test potential databases or just play with a simple skyview generator.

Spent a few days collecting images of city layouts built by the ancient egyptians. Unfortunately, there is little archeological remains dating back to the time of the pyramids. Stonehenge is a stand alone site with only a few other small henges dating to the same period. The website is complete in its structure, but not content, that will all follow with time.

The program is now posted for download through paypal. I really don't like having to charge for it, but if I am to continue the work on this project, I'll need to justify it (to my wife mainly). I also updated the demo of the program so it is a properly working version. The databases may need some refinement, and I'll post more as complete work on them. I'll try to get all the sections of the website posted asap.

I just updated the website, a few of the sections have yet to be completed, but I think its in good shape. As of February 1st I'll start adding this website to the various search engines to get some traffic. If you've found this page before that, congrats, I'm not sure how you managed it. Anyhow, at that point we'll be going public with the software and hopefully if enough people are interested in this project, we can either make some findings, or go a long way to eliminating the possibilities.

After dealing with some family health issues and the holidays, it is finally time to really start digging into some ancient images. I've started with the Mayan Codex, looking for anything that might resemble a star pattern. Keep us all updated with any of your current images in the Forum. I am also looking into a visit to a local Native American Burial site once the snow leaves. I'll be posting any first glance sites I've looked at in the database and how thoroughly they were examined

The CAAS software is in its final state now. It currently requires installation of the rest of the YABasic package (no biggie, its small and free). It appears that YABasic programs will be able to stand alone, which will be much nicer for user install. Here's what the finalized display looks like:

Summer is a pretty busy time for me, so unfortunately, major work will have to be put off for some time. But, the the version up on the sight is functional and should make do until I have time to implement the improvements. Working on: Run time display and summary info.
