Back in early 2000, Viridien Technologies contracted with GE's Medical Systems Group to create a web portal for radiologists called "PlanetRAD". Leading that project was my first assignment at Viridien, and it worked out well because we did deliver the first version on time and with even more features than we had contracted for. Moreover, that led to GE contracting with Viridien to do a second delivery of the portal a few months later - an even larger project for which I remained in the technical lead role.
However - for reasons that I am unaware of - as of 09/11/01 the site seems to have been withdrawn so below is a screen shot of the portal's home page, albeit only a static, marked-up picture, showing some design notes (the red => markings) that I wrote as part of our final delivery to GE.
Abstracts for all of the radiology articles that you could get from the PlanetRAD site were categorized and stored in a SQL database by the "feed" process that I wrote (in Java) so that GE could automagically offer an up-to-date collection of articles from MedLine, a 3rd-party content provider. I also worked on the SQL queries that the web site used to retrieve the article abstracts, and click-thrus were used to let the radiologists purchase the full text of these articles directly from our partner in this project, Healthgate.
