What is C2?

Ø       C2 is Christ Connection Time Release ministry

Ø       A Teen Ministry of Your WELS Congregation

Ø       A Program Designed to Keep High School Students in Contact with Christ and Each Other

Ø       A Time to Deepen Their Trust in Jesus

 

How Does It Work?

Ø       On selected Mondays of each month of the school year, after second period, registered students will go to the C2 bus which will be parked in front of Watertown High.

Ø       They will be checked out by the group leaders for third and fourth periods [9:50 to 11:39 AM].

Ø       They will then be transported to the ROC or St. Mark’s Parish Center by Watertown Transportation Services.

Ø       Following the day’s topic/discussion, a lunch will be served.

Ø       The students will be transported back to school in time for fifth period.

 

Is This Being Done Anywhere Else?

Ø       According to the National Association for Release Time Christian Education, over 200,000 students attend such classes each week in the US.

 

Ø       20011-12 is the 13th year of C2!

 

 

Who May Participate?

Ø       All St. John, St. Luke, St. Mark and Trinity WTTN High students who are registered at the WTTN High Attendance Office.

Ø       Any WTTN High student who has filed a registration form at the WTTN High Attendance Office.

Ø       Please remember that participation at C2 is a privilege.  If a student doesn’t cooperate with the WTTN High or C2 staff, that student will not be allowed to participate in C2.

 

 

How Do I Get Registered?

1.       Fill Out & Detach Your C2 Registration Form

2.       Turn Registration Form at the WTTN HIGH Attendance Office

3.       Important!  We desire to cooperate with WTTN High.  So,

§         Only official C2 forms or photocopies of official C2 forms will be accepted at the attendance office. 

§         No handwritten notes will be accepted.

§         Students will not be allowed to call for permission on the day of C2.

§         Additional application will be available at the WTTN High Attendance Office.

 

 

How can our students be released from High School for something like this?

The state of Wisconsin has recognized your right to provide this opportunity for your child.   

Wisconsin Law   Wisconsin Statute 118.155

 

1.  Any school board shall, without approval of the state superintendent, permit pupils with written permission of a parent or guardian to be absent from school at least 60 minutes but not more than 180 minutes per week to obtain religious instruction outside the school during the required school period.  The supervisor of such religious instruction shall report monthly, to the principal of the school regularly attended, the names of the pupils who attended such weekly religious instruction.  The school board may deny the privilege of released time to pupils who absent themselves from such religious instruction after requesting the privilege.  The time period, or periods, allotted for the pupil to be absent from school for the purpose of religious instruction shall be determined by the school board.

                                                                               

2.  Any transportation to religious instruction or from religious instruction to the public school shall be the responsibility of the parents or of the organization sponsoring the religious instruction.

 

3.  The school district shall be released from all liability for a pupil who is absent from school in accordance with sub. (1).  History: 1973 c.161

   October 24, November 14, November 28, December 12, January 9, January 30 (5th Monday), February 13, March 12, March 26, April 23, May 14

 

 

C2 Time Release Permission Slip

 

 

This is to certify that you have permission to release ___________________________________________ to attend the C2 Time Release Program during the 2011-12 school year.  She / He will attend classes off-campus as authorized under Wisconsin Statute 118.155   Attendance at every program is not mandatory, although it is encouraged to maintain continuity.  Students must sign out in the attendance office in order to attend that day’s program.  It is also understood that once a student signs out, attendance IS mandatory and that our School Board may deny the privilege of further involvement to students who absent themselves from such meeting after signing out.  Program will normally be held at The ROC of Watertown, with occasional sessions being held at St. John’s, St. Luke’s, St. Mark’s and Trinity Churches of Watertown.  The session will be held on specified Mondays of each month, with students returning to the school campus after the program.

 

I hereby authorize my child to participate in said activity and hereby release and waive any claim, demand, cause, or action or assertion of liability against C2, the C2 staff,  St. John’s, St. Luke’s, St. Mark’s and Trinity Lutheran Churches, The ROC, their  pastors, ministers, teachers or Meeting Facility.
