Build on the ROCK!
Jesus says,
"Therefore everyone who hears these words
of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his
house on the rock. (Matthew 7:24)
It is our goal to lead the youth to follow the below policies
because they want to, not
because they have to. The love of
Christ, our Savior, is to lead us to such love and
respect of God and others. “We love because He (God) first loved
us.” (1 John 4:19)
Youth Responsibilities
Respect for God
~I understand THE ROC is based
on Christ Jesus and uses Biblical truths to guide young people and,
therefore, I will not do anything to work against its mission.
~I will respect Bible/Talk Time and will not make fun of it or the
songs in any way.
~I will respect prayer by remaining quiet and not
distracting others.
Respect for God's
commandments
~I will not use angry or
vulgar language such as swearing, cursing,
taking God’s name in vain, or name calling.
~I will dress appropriately, avoiding anything that
conflicts with God’s Word (e.g. disrespectful and filthy language)
or government law (e.g. alcohol publicity).
~I will properly use the computers. When I chat online, I
will chat only with those I know and use clean, godly language. All
my user names will be appropriate. I will avoid any web site
with violent or inappropriate content.
~I will not lie or misuse the truth and will practice honesty in
every situation with everyone.
~I will not steal from THE ROC or from any person in THE ROC.
~I will always respect, obey and appreciate THE ROC staff.
Respect for
others and the ROC atmosphere
~I will respect myself and
others as I treat all with kindness.
~I will have an attitude of service for others,
treating others as I would want to be treated.
~I will help and build others up and will not tear them
down or bully them.
~I will not use a loud voice or shout.
~I will play all games as a good sport, avoiding excessive boasting
when I win, or anger when I lose.
Physical contact
~I will never make physical
contact with another person in any angry or threatening way.
~I understand physical contact, even playful
horseplay and fooling around, will mean ejection
from THE ROC. This policy
includes the public display of affection between couples.
~I understand that any inappropriate, threatening,
offensive or physically aggressive behavior will lead to immediate
removal from THE ROC.
Drugs, alcohol,
weapons
~I will respect life and never
carry or conceal any weapons, devices, or objects which may be used
as weapons.
~I will not disrupt THE ROC by using such things as toy
guns or lasers.
~I will never possess illegal chemicals or alcohol, and I
won't smoke anywhere near THE ROC.
Equipment
~I will willingly share all
THE ROC equipment and will not be selfish.
~I understand that all music, games, DVDs, videos, etc.
used at THE ROC must be approved by the staff, and
I will respect and willingly obey their decisions.
I will avoid material
with violent or inappropriate
content.
~I will not engage in behavior that results in the destruction of
property.
~I will avoid excessively hitting
the pool balls. I will play a proper pool game or not at all.
~I will care for the equipment and everything else in THE ROC by
helping to keep it in good shape and never abusing it.
~I understand that I must lock up my valuables, including
my bike, as THE ROC is not responsible for them.
Keeping the ROC
clean
~I will take my turn to vacuum
and clean THE ROC (THE ROC will close half an hour early if no one
volunteers as this will give the time needed for the staff to clean
up).
~I will help keep THE ROC clean by throwing away my trash
and cleaning up any mess I make.
~I will eat and drink
around a table and, especially, not near the computers.
Leaving and
hanging around outside
~I understand that I can only
leave and come back to THE ROC one time in an evening.
~I will never hang outside THE ROC, but
remain in the building or be gone far away.
Personal
responsibility
~I will be responsible for my
own actions, apologizing when I am wrong, and
gratefully enjoying forgiveness.
Age
~I understand that THE ROC is
open to 7th through 12th graders.
Remember, if you are
graduating from senior high or turning 18, you can be at THE ROC
only for the summer (until the next school year begins). If you are
18 or over, you cannot be at THE ROC unless you are an approved
older or adult volunteer.
As you become too old for THE ROC, we
encourage you to connect with one of our supporting churches and
continue to grow through God's Word and Sacrament. We want our
relationship with you,
and your relationship with our Savior God, to
continue. God be with you.
As a youth attending THE ROC, I value,
and agree to follow, these policies so that THE ROC will always
remain a place of safety and respect. I understand that if I do not
follow these policies, I will have to face the consequences
determined by THE ROC staff, which could include dismissal from
participating in THE ROC program. I understand that being able to
attend THE ROC is a privilege, not a right.
As a parent/guardian, I will encourage my child to follow these
policies and support the decisions of the staff so that THE ROC will
remain a place of safety and respect.
