Back to the main page..

Hi, welcome to our little corner of the Internet..

I thought that it was about time we made our presence known on the 'net' as a couple, that is my wife and I.  (This is Aaron, in case you hadn't guessed yet!).

On this page you'll find information on my wife, Debra, me and you'll also see our story of how we met and finally got together, (Believe me it's not run of the mill, check it out).

On the other pages you can find examples of our Poetry, Art and Pictures, some of my Writing and other bits and pieces, so please, give us a moment of your time and look around, we'd appreciate it, Thanks.

- Aaron.

Our story is far from normal, though in say 5-10 years it may be considered the norm. As you hopefully gathered from the Title of our page we are the Young's, Aaron (That's me), and my beautiful wife Debra.

We met back in November 1997, on the net, in an IRC chat room to be more precise. My handle is Gambit and Debra's is Weeboll, at first we were just friends and we got to know eachother over the coming months.

Finally we had the courage to admit we had deeper feelings for eachother and we decided we should meet... This would be easier said than done...

Debra was staying in Kentucky, USA, whilst I was born, raised and resident in the United Kingdom, in England, a mere 4000 odd miles across the Atlantic!

Suficit to say I bought a plane ticket and flew out to see the woman I had fallen in love with on August 14th 1998, the day after my 21st birthday.

In heinsight, I am suprised at how calm I was with the whole situation, (Flying to a foriegn country to which I had never been before, meeting a woman I had not at this point talked to in person, alone), I wasn't afraid for one second, all the time I was anxious to meet Debra.

It was a long, 9 hour flight on the United Airlines plane, I had watched a few in-flight movies and tried in vain to get some sleep.
When I stepped off the plane I was looking all around me, yet I couldn't seem to focus on anything, wasn't able to see properly, then, I heard the most wonderful voice, one which I had grown very familiar with during lengthy, and costly, telephone conversations.

There she was, as beautiful as I had imagined and she was calling my name, my heart skipped and I just fumbled a smile and walked over to her for the first of many hugs and kisses...

Our meeting was like a consumation of our love, we definitley clicked and we knew it was the real thing.. I stayed with Debra in Henderson, Kentucky and we spent all our time talking about; how we met, who else we knew, how we felt for eachother and how right it felt..

One week later, on August 21st 1998 at 3:30pm we got married in the Court House in Henderson, Kentucky. We wanted to be together for the rest of our lives and if possible.. beyond.

This was the point at which things became less than easy on either of us.. In order for us to be together, one of us had to immigrate to the other country.. we had talked at length about this and because Debra had children here who were at a point in their lives when they needed her to be around and the fact she had some deep roots here in the USA, we decided I would immigrate here to America.

We went to the nearest Immigration office to find out what we needed to do and found we had to fill in a pile of paper work and pay a substantial amount of money.. We had neither the funds or the time to fill in the paper work before I had to return to the UK, I would of and now, in heinsight wish I had, stayed here and filed the paperwork, but I had financial responsibilities and a job back in the UK, and to leave either would have meant hardship for family and friends, something I was not prepared to let happen. So on the grave day of September 3rd 1998, I returned to the UK, my heart aching for the love I had to leave behind.

I returned here to Minnesota on November 3rd 1998 and couldn't wait to hold my wife whom I had missed so much it hurt, we have now spent the last 2 months gaining the funds and filling in the paperwork and taking the physical, and we are waiting to finally file.

Update!!!! - 1/21/99
Today we went to the INS, (Immigration and Naturalization Service), in St.Paul and filed all our paperwork, we were there for about 4.5 hours!, but we got everything done and now I have a work permit and am getting my SSN tommorrow!!!
The weight lifted from our shoulders today was incredible.

N.B. The stress we have and are experiencing is immense and in some ways, inhumane, but we have and will continue to percivere in the name of true love.

- Aaron Young.
