Subject: opening electret mike capules

I just read your article about building binaural mics. I haven't used
the Panasonic capsules you mentioned, but the way i open other capsules
is to use a razor blade or Exacto knife to take the aluminum case off. I
just gradually shave the aluminum off from the circuit board end until i
can just pull the whole thing apart. It works well form me, and i
haven't lost one yet!

Another hint is that before working on a capsule i solder some reasonably
stiff wire to the pads, first so that they are shorted and that gives them
some static protection (just incase) and also to give me something to hold
while working, and to pull the capsule from the case with.
