FIELDS | NICHOLS FIELD and WAUGAMAN FIELD

Field Prep Day 2007 will be held on Saturday, April 7. 

We need all the help we can get!!!

In October 2002, the Hollis Cal Ripken League Officers, coaches, and parents joined together to completely renovate Nichols and Waugaman Fields. Al Burgun of Al's Masonry generously donated not only his time, but also his equipment including the use and operation of his Kubota tractor. The infield sod at Nichols was completely removed with new sod replacing it. Along with replacing sod a sand/clay ball field mixture was laid down to fill low areas and smooth out the rough spots between the base paths.

As you can see from the pictures the transformation is enormous. The Leagues Officers would like to extend our special thanks to those who helped make these improvements possible.

To help maintain the fields is a large effort. The league officers coordinate the mowing, fertilizing and watering of the fields but it takes the efforts of volunteer parents and coaches to rake and drag the fields after each game and practice. This work provided by the volunteers is invaluable to helping maintain good playing conditions for the children.
