The opening book will work for both the Window's version and the Linux version.  The opening book can also be generated manually if you have a slow connection and don't want to download the book.  The User's Guide has the necessary information for creating an opening book.

    I'll be adding more to this section soon, but to start off with--here's a perl script I've found useful.
  1. pgn - This script tracks the progress of engine vs. engine matches.  Run it without any options to get a summary of its capabilities and operation.  As an example of its output here is the results of a 100-game match between PostModernist and Phalanx.
