Route June 1st - Rained all day and night. Decided to wait another day.
June 2nd - Still raining.
Left for Kick Stand Lodge.
The trailer lights were causing the
battery to run
down.
I tried different things to stop it. Bought two batteries and a battery charger.
LED bulbs. Ran without trailer lights. In the end the thing that worked was
adding a toggle switch to the trailer tail lights. Only use them when needed.
This butterfly
stayed with Margaret at a campsite, then sat on her shoulder as we left the
State Park. Somewhere between there and the next town, it left.
Then on to Kanab Utah. The first day was 500 miles to the Crawford Motel in
Central City Neb.
Nice clean remodeled motel. Queen size bed, no ice machine, no credit cards, but
only $28 for the room.
We left Kanab heading west on highway
14.
There was a different warning sign every few feet. Steep mountain grades, sharp
curves, road damage, road repair, falling rock, high winds, blowing snow,
animals, and more. We had to stop for a couple of hours and wait for a storm to
pass. Then on the down hill side I pulled off on the side to stop. The weight of
the trailer, the down hill grade, and small gravel caused the wheels to slip out
from under us. Margaret broke her wrist.
A truck driver stopped and helped me pick the bike up. The slope off from the
pavement was too much for the kick stand so I had to roll it down and back
facing the highway to stand it up. I think after we hit the ground the
trailer pushed the rear wheel around from point 1 to 2. The engine was racing
and dug a groove in the ground before I could shut it off. We spent
several days in the KOA Campground in Cedar City Utah, going to Doctors about
her wrist.
Then off to Nevada looking for
UFOs.
From there to Death Valley.

After Death Valley, crossed the Mojave Desert,
went thru Laughlin Nev. into Arizona, and drove some of the old Route 66.
Then on thru Arizona and New Mexico. Some prehistoric Indian sites, Petrified
Forrest, Painted Desert, Grave of Billy The Kid, then on thru the Southern
States and back home.
