During an unfortunate bout with a kidney stone, Tom was heavily sedated, yet still
performed his on-air duties. One good thing did come from this experience.
It was determined from callers that there is more pain involved in the formation
and passing of a kidney stone, than women experience in childbirth.
This confirmed by a female caller who had experienced both the passing of stones
and the passing of a child through her birth canal. Tom doesn't remember
the incident and swears to this day he was feeding children in Kenya while a member
of the Peace Corps at the time of this malady.
