The cost for predator or beaver management varies depending on location, accommodations, gas prices, and other factors. In addition to trapping, I will also be willing to assess the habitat and make recommendations that will benefit your target game species.
When doing predator management, it is impractical and difficult to target a single species. It makes more sense to trap not only coyotes or foxes, but also bobcats, raccoons, opossums and skunks. The more predators that are removed from a tract of land results in an increase in the amount of available foods for the remaining predators, including hawks and owls, which are protected by law. Many of these available foods are rodents, such as cotton rats, deer mice, voles and etc. By removing some of the ground predators, more of these rodents will become available for consumption by birds of prey, thus taking pressure off small game species, such as rabbit, wild turkey and quail.
The time needed for trapping a particular tract of land depends on the size of the tract and the weather. However, larger properties can be efficiently trapped in two to three weeks. When trapping smaller tracts, it is a good idea for the landowner to contact adjacent landowners and convince them to let me trap their farms as well. This will allow me to trap nearby transient predators, thus preventing them from filling the void left after trapping.
When trapping away from home, suitable lodging will be required. Lodging should have modern facilities, such as running water, heat and electricity. Please don’t expect me to stay in a place that you wouldn’t stay, such as a rat or roach infested structure. I will also need a dry place to park my ATV and skin animals. Electrical outlets for my freezers and skinning machine are also essential.
