Here is the will of Robert Breford


IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen the Ninth Day of March l742/3 I Robert Breford of Reading in the County of Middlesex in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England, Weaver, being weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God, Therefore calling to Mind the Mortality of my body & knowing that it is Appointed for All Men once to Die Do make & Ordain this my last will and Testament

That is to say principally & first of All I give and recommend to be buried in Decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my executor Nothing Doubting but at the Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God And as touching Such worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form

Imprimis. I give & Bequeath to Susanna my well beloved wife all my Homested with all the Appurtenances belonging thereunto All my moveables within Doors & without for her use & benefit so long as She remains my widow, by her freely to be possessed & enjoyed Said Term-

Item I give to my son Robert Breford my piece or parcel of a Meadow wich lyeth in a Meadow called Bear Meadow as it lyeth Butted and Bounded it being two acres freely to be by him possessed & enjoyed; And also all my Homested with all the Appurtenances belonging therewith & my outdoor moveables at his mothers marriage if she should marry or otherwise at her decease. He my said son paying to his sisters Mary, Susanah, Charity & Sarah, each of then four pounds a piece of Good passable Bills of Public Credit of the Tenor or Equivalent thereunto in present Value in other medium of Trade, To be paid by my said son at the End of one year after his said mother shall either Marry or if otherwise decease---And if my said son should not live to the age of twenty one years then to be equally divided to my four daughters I do constitute Make & Ordain Susannah my dearly beloved Wife my Sole Executor of this my last will & Testament & I do hereby Utterly Disallow Evoke & Disannull all & every other former Testaments Wills Legacys & Bequests & Execution by me in any ways before named Willed a Bequeathed Ratifying & Confirming this & no other to be my last will & Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand & Seal the day & year Above written
