Cornelius Mahoney was christened in Inchigeelah, County Cork, Ireland 24 Nov 1837. (bapt. witnesses were Timothy Mahoney and Jude Herlehy; place - Dirrineanig.) He was the eldest son of James Mahoney and Catherine Herlehy. Cornelius married Margaret, the daughter of Daniel(?) and Mary Scott Regan. Margaret was born 21 Aug 1843. The baptismal sponsors named Herlehy, are likely to be siblings of Kate Herlehy Mahoney. That list would include: I extracted all Herlehy records found in Casey's O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Slieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater in Ireland volumes 7 and 11, from Inchigeelagh Parish records. In these extractions, I included all records where a Herlehy was only found as a witness to the event.
