Cornelius Mahoney was christened in Inchigeelah, County Cork, Ireland 24 Nov 1837. (bapt. witnesses were Timothy Mahoney and Jude Herlehy; place - Dirrineanig.)  He was the eldest son of James Mahoney and Catherine Herlehy.  Cornelius married Margaret, the daughter of Daniel(?) and Mary Scott Regan.  Margaret was born 21 Aug 1843. 

In addition to the above named Cornelius, James and Kate Mahoney were also the parents of:
    * Mary (bapt. 26 July 1840) witnesses: John Herlehy & Mary Coleman, place Dirraneanig.
    * John  (bapt. 8 May 1842) witnesses Ty Herlehy & Mgt Herlehy; place - Cleanrath(?)
    * Hannah (bapt. 28 Oct 1844) witnesses Michael Herlehy & Cath. Lynch; place - Rahaskey
    * Norry (bapt 12 Sept 1847) witnesses Corn. Mahony & Bridget Lehane; place - Tirranassig.
    * Timothy (bapt. 7 Apr 1850) witnesses John Lucey and mary Herlehy; place - Dooneeny.
            all christened in Inchigeelah, and 
    * Margeret (18 Jan 1866) christened in Templemichael, Co. Cork, Ireland.

    I extracted all Herlehy records found in Casey's O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Slieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater in Ireland volumes 7 and 11, from Inchigeelagh Parish records. In these extractions, I included all records where a Herlehy was only found as a witness to the event. I also listed the location as spelled in the record, and then the closest spelling of that location that I could find on the IreAtlas website. The interpretation of the second location is entirely mine, and you can feel free to re-interpret that guess-timate.
