All birth and marriage records were extracted for the surnames Mahoney, Herlehy , Regan, Scott and Carroll, including instances when the surname was only a witness/sponsor to the event. Records were extracted from: O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Slieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater in Ireland, Baptisms, Inchigeelagh R.C. Parish, Barony of Muskerry West, 1816-1863

My Mahoney family consists of Cornelius Mahoney, b. 1837, son of James Mahoney and Catherine Herlehy. Cornelius Mahoney married Margaret Regan, dau of ? Regan and Mary Scott. Research indicates that Mary Scott’s mother was a Carroll. Hence the 5 surnames that were collected. [note – if you wish additional information and statistics on the Herlehy, Regan, Scott and Carroll surnames, please contact the author.]
