Mom just wanted to take a German class at the senior center and Dad didn't want to sit home alone. He checked out the other classes being offered and discovered that the only other class more interesting than a root canal, was a creative writing class.

What follows is a collection of short essays, prepared solely for the class. They were originally written as "homework", but as his collection grew it emerged as a colorful window on farm life in Wisconsin, from the early years growing up on a farm on Martin Road, to the years of raising his own family on the farm on Reinhardt Road.
