Antoine Romens was born 21 Jan 1787, in Stundwiller, France.  His baptismal record states that he was the son of Henri Romens and Anne-Marie Aman.

Antonie's Romens ancestry has been traced back to Pierre Rummens, born in 1630 in Lommel, Belgium. (see family history data)

On 4 Sept. 1809 he married Anne Marie Ball, and their son Antoine was born 16 Jan. 1810.   On 31 Aug. 1820 Antoine married Marie Barbe Fischer in Stundwiller, France, and their first five children, Catherine, Anthony, Joseph, Henri and Anna Mary were born in Stundwiller.  In May 1830, another son Henri was born on board ship before arrival in Baltimore, as the family made their way to America.  Two more children, Barbara and Elizabeth were born in America.

In 1840 the family is found in Hanoverton, Columbiana Co. Ohio, and in 1850, near Dungannon, Columbiana Co. Ohio.  By 1860 some of the family members had migrated to Fond du Lac county, Wisconsin, including Anthony Romens (with wife Barbara Haessley)  and Anna Mary Romens Hegner and her husband William.
