A photon is the elementary particle that makes up light waves. As with all elementary particles, it can be described as both a wave and a particle. Mankind has found a way to utilize this dual nature by encasing them in specialized containers. One new method of packaging photons is by placing them into small, oval-shaped capsules called 'photon torpedoes'. When used as weapons, these torpedoes release massive amounts of energy upon a target.
