FAILURE- Expert Leighton Sissom’s traffic reconstruction (Cookeville,
TN) utilized the physics law of momentum conservation, vehicle masses,
and the “distance to rest” to determine that the truck in the center of
the scene was traveling the speed limit, was clearly visible to the car
on the right which pulled out in front of it, and was visible for 8 seconds
prior to impact.
NO SUN GLARE- The driver of the tractor-trailer at the right said that the sun glare on the tractor-trailer shown on the left prevented him from seeing the yellow utility truck, which he hit, causing severe injuries. TETRA used software to calculate the yellow sun ray, obtained independent agreement by two other experts, and proved that the ray intersected the ground 7’ off the highway and 27-32’ ahead of the driver, even with a variance of +-10 degrees (red rays). |
