re-knowing: re-cognition, the re-knowing of something that is already known. Nietzsche's idea of the eternal return "…everything is dead and risen in advance." everything implies a model for itself which preceded it but to which it cannot be reduced. -Beyond Piety, Jeremy Gilbert-Rolfe
the light posses form that is archetypal - breast or phallus head; although verging on cliché, the connections are there, in a beautiful and sexy way. the forms are evocative…hard, under a glistening surface. the curve is swollen and soft. the light is deep and severe. the heat is rousing. but not merely sexual. the forms are also reassuring…the protective shell of a cocoon, the nurturing warmth of the womb, the comfort and encouragement of light. this space is intended to be both nurturing and sexy.
although personal connections are never directly revealed, the color of the room and the heat produced by the lights refer to a personal story that offers a metaphor for coming of age, growing up, becoming a woman. as a pubescent incredibly shy girl, i discovered a sense of self through my purchase and wearing of an attention-grabbing bright hot pink winter coat.
