Hydraulic Clutch

The following are some pictures of hydraulic clutch that I installed in my Bronco in 1996. I wanted to get rid of the awful chatter that I had when using the stock 3 speed trans, 351W, old clutch, and manual linkage. I changed all of this in the spring of 1996. I installed a McLeod internal through out bearing slave cylinder, Willwood master cylinder, LUK diaphragm clutch, new flywheel, NP435, refabed pedal box, and plumbing. I retained the factory power brake booster and in doing so I needed to relocate the clutch pedal further to the outside of the vehicle to accommodate the length of the master cylinder between the firewall and the brake booster. I took out the pedal box and moved the clutch pedal mounting location from the inside of the box to the outside of the box. I then boxed in the pedal mounting out side the original and cut and pinned the pivot rod so that it only goes through the clutch pedal and stops and then the other half goes through the brake pedal. I did this step so I could use factory bushings and would not need to have a custom rod made longer. I then made an adjustable bottom plate on the pedal box to act as a pedal stop. I then found some small rod ends and made up the linkage to connect the pedal to the master. In the pictures below you can identify the original power booster mounting holes to help you locate the position of the master.

Mounting the slave on the input housing of the trans was easy. Just follow the instructions to set the depth and the slave just floats on the bearing retainer.

I purchased all of the clutch products from Southland Clutch. Talk to the owner Dan and tell him what you are doing and he will fix you up. The PN on my invoice for the master and slave is: MCD 14005-1400 MSTR/SLV-BRG/ADJ and was $375.
