TillBuilt Custom Cage Works
I got into this because I was looking for someone to build a custom
cage in my 69' Ford Bronco. After a exhaustive search I only found one
person in this area that would build me the cage that I wanted. This person
wanted over $1600 to build the cage. I decided that I could design and
built the cage myself, if I only had the equipment. I went ahead and reviewed
many designs and took the best of all and a few of my own and came up with
what I think is the strongest design of this application. Next on the list
of things to do was to purchased the equipment. I got a tubing bender from
Mittler Bros. and a tubing notcher from JD2 and I was in business. I figured
that I could build my cage and a few more and have the equipment paid for.
Well five cages later my equipment is paid for and I build a few cages
on the side for fun.
My cages are all custom built to the customers specs. I only build the
cage in the vehicle at my shop. In doing this I can provide my customers
with the perfect cage for their application. I require that any top, doors,
and equipment that the customer ever wants to run or have mounted to the
cage be supplied at the time of the build. This way I can incorporate these
thing into the cage design. I do one exception: That is I build a CJ7 tube
only cage kit. This is for the able fabricator only.
I have the dies to bend 2", 1 3/4", and 1 1/2" tubing. All of the cages
I put in SUV's are made out of 2" X .120" wall DOM tubing. The tubing is
notched to very close tolerances and MIG welded together.
