month. We will see how it goes.
Now
on to what has been going on this year. There was no meeting for Jan, we did
meet at the range and shoot. But the weather turned bad and it was decided to
leave before it got worse. We had
our first meeting of the year on
Feb
3, went over up coming event that are listed in the newsletter.
Until
the next letter, Later all.

RENDEZVOUS
RAMBLIN’S
February Camp out:
THE WINTER
ENKAMPMENT WAS FEB 9,10,11, 07
I HAD A PROBLEM, DUE TO THE FACT THAT AS I WAS LOADING MY TRUCK WITH KAMP, TO GO
TO THE RANGE TO SPEND THE WEEKEND. IT WAS RAINING. I GOT KAMP LOADED INTO THE
TRUCK TOOK OFF FOR THE RANGE ALL THE WHILE IT WAS STILL RAINING. I GOT GROCERYS,
I GOT DINNER SINCE IT WAS GETTING LATE 6:30 PM (ALL READY DARK). SINCE I HAD ALL
MY BELONGINZ FER THE WEEKEND, I KOULDN'T PROLONG MY JOURNEY ANY LONGER. I HAD
THOUGHTS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE IT UP THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THE MUD AND ALL OF
THOSE DIFFICULTYS. SO UP I WENT, THE ROAD WASN'T AS BAD AS I HAD ANTISIPATED, IT
WAS GOING TO BE. MADE IT UP WITH OUT ANY SLIPPING OR SLIDING. GOT TO KAMP THE
ONLY ONE THERE WAS LIPS. SO I GOT INTO HIS KAMP SAID, HELLO, HE HANDED ME HIS
WHISKEY BOTTLE I SAT DOWN AND TOOK A SHOT WE GOT TO DISCUSSING LIFE IN GENERAL.
HE WAS THINKING HE HAD THE WRONG WEEKEND, AND WAS WONDERING WHERE EVERY ONE ELSE
WAS. RAY ARRIVED AFTER A COUPLE HOURS HAD GONE BY AND SET UP KAMP. THEN THE
CORRINE, KIETH, THOMAS SHOWED UP THEY DIDN'T SET UP KAMP UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING
LIKE I ENDED UP DOING, DO TO THE FACT THAT I HAD BROUGHT THE TIPI. WE SET UP
KAMP IN THE BREAK THAT THE RAIN TOOK. AS I WAS PUTTING IN THE LAST TENT STAKE
THE RAIN STARTED COMING DOWN. IT RAINED ALL THAT DAY AND INTO THE NIGHT. THERE
WERE A FEW THAT WENT OUT AND SHOT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, BEFORE THE RAINS CAME BACK.
WE HAD SEVERAL VISITORS DURING THE DAY, THEY CAME UP TO SEE THE KRAZY FOLX THAT
WOULD KAMP IN THE RAIN. SO WE ALL WERE IN THE TIPI FOR THE DAY AND NIGHT DOING
WHAT WE DO AT NIGHT. I HAD COMPANY IN MY TIPI FOR THE NIGHT, BECAUSE THE WINDS
WERE BLOWING THE RAIN SIDEWAYS, WE HAD RAIN COMING DOWN INTO THE TIPI THRU THE
SMOKE HOLE EVEN IF IT WAS CLOSED OFF TIGHTLY. SO WE ENDED UP HAVING A SMOKE
LODGE. I HAD 3 VISITORS FOR THE NIGHT RAY, CORRINE, AND THOMAS THEY SLEPT INSIDE
THE TIPI. THE BEALLS TENT HAD BEEN BLOWN DOWN EARLIER IN THE DAY, RAY HAD A
LEANTO. THE WIND AND RAIN HAD BLOWN INTO HIS KAMP AND GOT IT ALL WET. SUNDAY WE
BROKE KAMP IN THE CLEAR BLUE SKY GO FIGGER

Venison
Appetizers
Take one or two Venison ham steaks frozen, trim ALL fat and scrape with the flat of a knife. Cut into 1” cubes, wrap with 1/3 slice bacon, and pin through with a toothpick. Broil until bacon is almost done then turn over and do other side.
Some Muzzleloading Safety Do's and
Don'ts
DO’s
Read
and understand your instruction manual. If you didn't get one with your
muzzleloader, order one from the manufacturer. They will send you one for free.
Many companies now have a web site and online manuals are common.
Wear
shatterproof shooting glasses and ear protection, as both percussion and
flintlock guns may shower sparks and bits of caps/flints when fired.
Treat
a misfire or failure to fire as though the gun can fire at any second. Wait at
least a minute with gun pointed at the target.
Be
sure all spectators are completely behind you when firing. Flames and bits of
caps/flint sometimes exit from the side of the gun. It is good shooting
etiquette to warn other shooters that you are about to fire a flint lock next
to them.
DO
NOT
Never
fire a muzzleloader unless the ball is firmly seated against the powder charge.
Firing a muzzleloader with the ball off the powder or part way up the barrel
may cause serious damage to the firearm and possibly serious injury to the
shooter.
Do not
exceed manufacturer's recommended maximum powder charge.
Never
use FFFFg black powder for a charge in any
muzzleloader at any time. The only safe use for fine priming powder is for the
priming of a pan on a flint lock. Fine powders will cause excessive pressures
and could very well burst your barrel.
Never lean over (or stand in front of) the muzzle at
any time.
Never attempt to shoot out a projectile which
is not firmly seated against the powder charge
