Moon Phases
The Moon and its phases are a very important process of our daily
lives. By following the Moon and making the proper adjustments you
will find your life to be much more rewarding for yourself and for
the world around you.
New Moon Top
The phases of the Moon are like a monthly calender by which we plan
important things in our life. I use this process monthly to plan
my work and prepare for my readings and other important tasks that
I am faced with in my life. Keeping a journal of the event you are
paying attention to, or the decision you are trying to decide will
be a great help in following the progress of your moves. Most of
us do not like to take this time and keep track, but when it comes
to making decisions that could change our lives for ever, it seems
a small thing to do. I keep a journal of my plans for each new month
of the Moon.
The way you nourish your inner child is front and center during
this New Moon. The New Moon is the first phase of each lunar cycle.
Solar and lunar energies come together and magnetically pull in
the same direction to provide the thrust of new life. At this time
all of the power of the Sun (Spirit) is encapsulated in a seed idea
and planted deep underground in the subconscious womb of the Moon
(soul). In general this is a period of instinctive, youthful, and
essentially unconscious activity. Since all is hidden from light
at the dark Moon, dreams and waking inspirations often hold the
answers. Faith and trust in the Unseen is called for. It is during
this phase that you will go within to plant your intentions for
this cycle. The overview will guide you toward formulating your
intentions by prompting your intuition and sparking your imagination.
If this is your moon phase at birth, look at the possibilities
trying to emerge from within and whether you tend to operate from
spontaneous instinct or a well thought-out plan. Be aware of your
emotions and why you do things. This is the time to look for new
solutions.
Crescent Moon Top
Examination and release of judgement is supported during this phase!
This is the first stirring of light when the moon begins to pull
away from the Sun. The crescent phase, in general, is likened to
a tender shoot struggling to be born. The symbolic seed opens and
struggles to push its intent above ground into the light. The challenge
is to become aware of resistance to your intention created by patterns
from your past that would impede your progress. The resolution of
this challenge is to mobilize your resources and assert yourself
in a forward direction. This silvery crescent hints at the promise
of the full moon and the fulfillment to come. Answer the questions,
and you'll be prompted to take the action you need to achieve resolution.
If this is your moon phase at birth look at where you resist breaking
with that which holds you back. What ghosts of the past do you struggle
with? Find effective ways to cultivate new talents to produce forward
movement.
First Quarter Top
Harmony in your relationship is of prime importance as this phase
begins. In general this phase calls forth a crisis in action. This
corresponds in the plant cycle to the growth of a strong stem and
leaf structure. The Sun and Moon are in a 90 degree angle relationship
to each other. The resulting squared-off energy compels you to take
action to support the emergence of your New Moon vision. The distinctive
half-moon appearance is like a wake-up call. The waxing or building
part of the cycle is half over! This energy pushes you to take decisive
action. If you don't take action that positively nurtures and cultivates
your vision, the Full Moon could be an enormous negative wake-up
call!
Both quarter phases are symbols of crises. The First Quarter having
to do with action. The Last Quarter having to with consciousness.
Whatever you set-up during this critical phase of the lunar cycle
keeps on developing, for better or for worse. It is important to
make sure that you set a positive course of action.
If this is your moon phase at birth ask yourself if you thrive
on crisis situations. Look at the way you use direct action to tear
down old structures and build new ones. Does your assertiveness
meet with conflict and resistance?
Gibbous Top
Self worth issues that came up at last month's Full Moon eclipse
have roots in the feminine role model from childhood! In general,
progress towards your goals should be well under way. The symbolic
new moon seed now buds. The Gibbous Phase leads up to the popping
of the Full Moon and often feels like a pressure cooker. Don't lose
faith or become overly judgmental. Analyze what you've accomplished
and revise what you've done so far during this cycle. You're provided
with an opportunity to perfect the form you've created so that it
can function effectively. Make adjustments with a positive attitude
and you will be rewarded with clarity under the light of the Full
Moon.
This is when the lunacy could begin! So take the time to review
what still needs to be done. By taking the appropriate action the
pressure may be relieved.
If this is your moon phase at birth ask yourself what you've come
to earth school to perfect. Notice what part analysis plays in coming
up with better ways of doing things and understanding your part
in relationships. What methods do you use to search for better answers
and insights?
Full Moon Top
You're cosmically urged to allow new possibilities and greater abundance
in your life! The symbolic seed flowers. This is the culmination
of the waxing cycle and the beginning of the waning cycle. The Sun
and Moon are farthest apart and form a direct opposition. In general,
a Full Moon pops things for better or worse. It acts as an in your
face mirror that reveals how well you've done with your New Moon
intentions. If you've released blockages and maintained a mostly
positive attitude during the waxing period, the Full Moon brings
fulfillment, illumination or revelation. If you haven't nurtured
your vision or have been harboring a negative attitude, the full
moon can be expected to bring about a tug of war that can be a physical,
mental, emotional, or spiritual conflict.
By keeping up a journal or record through the different phases you
will be able to tell the tale of why your revelations are sweet
or bitter. Go back through your journal to see exactly where you
supported or sabotaged your New Moon intentions.
If this is your moon phase at birth take note of the ways you
look for a larger purpose for your life. Make sure you're taking
proper responsibility for your interactions with others and thinking
before you act. Are you seeking fulfillment through others?
Disseminating Moon Top
Issues of co-dependancy and addictive emotional behavior may come
up! In general, during the Disseminating Phase you're encouraged
to share and distribute the insights that were gained in the light
of the Full Moon. This will solidify the value of your full moon
experience. By harvesting the fruit of your emotional experience,
you can see what works and what doesn't... what's worthy of being
carried forward as well as what has not yet successfully been released.
The fruit of this cycle may be sweet or bitter, depending on the
work done during the waxing phases.
Don't forget, listening is also an important part of the sharing
process. Sharing with another person isn't the only way to make
this phase effective for you. Writing in your lunar is another way
to collect the insights and give value to your experience.
If this is your moon phase at birth look at how the necessity
that you believe in a cause makes your life feel worthwhile. Are
you impatient when you share your beliefs and ideas and others do
not readily accept them?
Last Quarter Top
Nurturing your five senses and connecting with the Earth are keys
to health and emotional well being during this phase! The fruit
withers on the vine and returns to the ground in preparation for
the coming new cycle. The Last Quarter phase always evokes a crisis
in consciousness. It's a conflict between what has gone before,
what has yet to be and that which inwardly gets in the way. The
crisis of the First Quarter demanded that you take action in the
outer world. The crisis in the Last Quarter is internal and demands
the release of no longer useful beliefs or thought patterns. The
diminishing light challenges you to release plans that don't resonate
with the new blueprint you are creating. The Sun and Moon square
off at a 90 degree angle to each other letting you know it's time
to adjust your attitude and follow new inspirations. Keeping up
your Lunar Journal will give you the clues you need seeing how this
energies is play during this cycle. It will guide you toward making
the shift(s) in consciousness demanded during this phase.
If this is your moon phase at birth look at where your idealism
may be interpreted as a lack of flexibility. Do you have trouble
letting go of the past and concentrating on the future? Use your
gifts of understanding to help others resolve their problems by
expanding their awareness.
Balsamic Moon Top
This phase supports the release of experiences and memories that
prevent you from shining your light! This is the final waning crescent
and marks the transition from the last cycle to the next new moon.
The wisdom you collect during this phase will provide fertile compost
for the next cycle. The light from the moon is disappearing, so
no light is shed on the future. You'll have to see with your intuitive
senses. The dark moon is nature's time to rest and recuperate. Time
for you to do the same. Go inward, contemplate the past, and tie
up loose ends. Allow your activity to be spiritual and intellectual
rather than physical. Distill the wisdom of the entire cycle and
envision the future you want to create at the time of the next New
Moon. When you're in the Balsamic Phase outward activity is not
supported. Curl up with your journal look over the past month, and
glean the golden nuggets of wisdom that will make fertile compost.
Leave the rest behind.
If this is your moon phase at birth look for karmic connections
and opportunities for resolution in your dealing. Find ways to incorporate
your attunement with the future into your present framework. How
do you pass your wisdom on through your daily work so your feelings
of destiny can be fulfilled?
