When we reported VT's victory over Duke on 2005-09-10, we forgot to point out a very important fact. No worries, though, because StateSkills stepped into the gap and sent us this message:

You failed to mention on the VC that Tech’s defense held Duke to less yards than VT had points. Now, that’s an impressive stat, even if it is against Duke.

He's absolutely right, Tech held Duke to only 35 yards of total offense. 35!!!! Not just rushing offense, or passing offense, or even yards for their top running back. TOTAL OFFENSE. WTF? That's crazy.

On last night's Hokie Hotline radio show, it was announced that Duke gained a total of 16 yards on 18 first down plays. Ouch.

Yesterday, StateSkills posted this item to the Unofficial Miss-State blog, where he had this to say:

    5. Virginia Tech is the new Florida State. They will dominate the ACC for years to come. I realize it was against Duke, but the Hokies scored more points than yards allowed. Wow.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, FSU dominated the ACC for nearly a decade. Being compared to that kind of winning record is a good thing. On the other hand, I've been to two Sugar Bowls: one to see Tech play FSU and one to see Tech play Auburn. The Auburn fans were pretty much all very nice people and I enjoyed partying with them in New Orleans. The FSU fans were generally assholes and they all deserved to be cock-punched.

  • Back to politics
We told you before that we were going to start getting back into politics, and who better to start with than our old friend Rick Santorum?

It's going to take a while to sort this all out, but it seems like there were quite a few screw ups at all levels of government in this whole Katrina thing. However, one agency that was right on the ball was the National Weather Service, and everyone seems to be in agreement on this. Unless, of course, you're Rick Santorum and you have an opportunity to whore yourself out.

Long time readers will remember when we pointed out that Santorum has been carrying AccuWeather's water (third item on the link).
