  • All Football Edition
Today's update is all football, enjoy. It includes some things I bookmarked earlier, but never got around to putting up, so if something seems a little stale, it's probably just you.

  • Pot, meet Kettle
Back in September, The Terps were patting themselves on the back for not being as big of assholes as West Virginia. While WVU does set the bar pretty high in this realm, Maryland fans don't give themselves nearly enough credit.

  • The Privateers
Privateer454 uses the team name Privateers during fantasy football, so he might like to snag the helmet graphic on this page for the University of New Orleans club team.

  • Which one is your team?
In our 2005-09-03 update, we linked to this post on StateSkill's Miss State Blog, where he posted a picture of the ACC schools represented by Simpsons Characters.

I found a couple of different versions here, and frankly Snake is a much better fit than Miami for God. Another blog, titled Hey Jenny Slater took that one step further, and tried to associate even more football teams with Simpsons characters, and did a pretty good job.

Of course, we quickly descend into madness with A Smurftacular Look Back at the ACC Season, from Golden Tornado and Sexy Results! decides to associate a bunch of teams with rappers.

  • Notre Dame sucks
The Onion weighed in with this: Notre Dame Football Announces Improvements To Its Storied History.

  • Marcus Vick
Well, I suppose I've put it off long enough. I'll have to say something about what I'm feeling which is a combination of disappointment, frustration, and relief:

    • I'm disappointed not only by the fact that Virginia Tech is losing a talented quarterback, but I'm even more disappointed that Virginia Tech's reputation has been tarnished by Vick's stupidity.
    • I'm frustrated that someone with considerable talent and almost unlimited opportunity just insisted on screwing. Beamer and the school bent over backwards to give this kid multiple chances and he kept making stupid decisions. I think most Hokie fans would have given quite a bit to trade places with him, and to see him throw that all away...
    • Finally, I'm relieved that at least it's all over. No more lurking scandals, no more worry about what he's going to do today, no more trying to explain to others. It's time to put it behind us, learn from our mistakes, and focus on a new season of Hokie football. Let's hope they do it right this time.

Now if we can just laugh a little about it, let's see... oh here we go, a guy a work sent these links.

Finally, it's not all bad news. Here's an article from The Richmond Times-Dispatch about a Virginia Tech basketball player who seems to have it all together. Too bad kids like Collins, who play in all sports for all schools, don't get more press.
