Well, it sounds like they had a little bit of excitement over in England a few days ago. It's been exciting here, too. Not only has the terror alert level display in the left hand column changed to Bert, Ernie, and Elmo all at once, but I found the picture below on the Cosmic Variance blog. Those with a nerdy bent should get the joke.

I do have to admit to being a little cynical about this. The last "MAJOR TERRORIST PLOT" disrupted turned out to be a dud? Remember those guys in Miami that were going to blow up the Sears tower? They turned out to be more crazy than terrorist. Remember how they wanted the undercover fed to help them buy uniforms and boots? (terrorist uniforms?) It didn't stop the feds from hyping the event. How much hype is here?
MSNBC is reporting this:
A senior British official knowledgeable about the case said British police were planning to continue to run surveillance for at least another week to try to obtain more evidence, while American officials pressured them to arrest the suspects sooner. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case.
In contrast to previous reports, the official suggested an attack was not imminent, saying the suspects had not yet purchased any airline tickets. In fact, some did not even have passports. |
Meanwhile, Stupid Security has some interesting thoughts on the implausability of these attacks.
Add it all up, and I wonder what we're going to learn in a few weeks? Why did the Administration want the busts pulled ahead? How likely were these attacks?
