Sucking sure pays off!
The season starts less than an hour from now when Boston College takes on Directional Michigan. I'm so excited, I'm at half mast.
Tonight also features perennial div 1A powerhouses Buffalo and Temple facing off in what is sure to be a classic for the ages. This might be the only game either of these programs can win. Buffalo has a brutal schedule this year. Besides a slate of MAC teams, many of whom don't suck, they also have at Boston College, at Wisky, and at Auburn. But they do get something for their trouble. A HUGE PAYOFF! They even dicked over those couch burning hillbillies at West Virginia for a bigger paycheck (not that there's anything wrong with that).
And with teams like Buffalo bidding up the cost, teams are bringing in more div IAA teams. From TFA:
With the weakest teams in Division I-A becoming more expensive, top programs are stooping lower for competition. Iowa, a Big Ten favorite this year, wooed Montana, a Division I-AA program, for $650,000.

Which, of course brings us to Virginia Tech, who opens the season against the Huskies of Northeastern this Saturday. This year was sort of special case because Wisconsin backed out on us at the last minute, and we had to find anybody to fill in. But that doesn't explain the likes of William & Mary, Furman, and Appalachian State on our future schedule. Oh well.
Enjoy tonight's game everybody. Crack open a beer and let's get this season started!
