Woot
Well, it's been an exciting couple of days. The good guys locked up the House, almost certainly the Senate, and there's still a few races with outstanding ballots that just might turn blue. Good times.
Even better, Rumsfeld got the boot. That's not just good for Democrats, that's good for America. What an incompetent jackass. Even if you assume that the administration didn't lie to get us into Iraq (they did), even if you assume there was a real security need for us to invade Iraq (there wasn't), even if you assume it wasn't part of a Neocon think tank wet dream (it was), it's still plainly obvious that this administration has completely dicked up the Iraq war from day 1. As SecDef, Rumsfeld is personally responsible for it and I hope that for the rest of his life, his dreams are haunted by thoughts of the almost 3000 soldiers he's killed as part of a kooky Conservative nation-building experiment. Heck of a job, Rummy.
I don't know enough about the new guy yet to have an opinion on him. On the one hand, there continues to be rumors about him being involved with Iran-Contra, and he seems to have been involved in some CIA shennaigans. On the other hand, he's not a overt Neo-con and is said to be more of the realist school. Besides, he's been at Texas A&M, which has the coolest college football fans ever.
I do find the Gates nomination interesting for two reasons. First, he's a CIA guy. For the past six years, Cheney and Rumsfeld have been pushing everything under Pentagon control, including many of the intelligence services. Putting the military under a CIA guy must have really twisted Cheney's sack. Second, he's served under Bush 41, and is seen as one of his guys (as well as being seen as one of Scowcroft's guys, and there's not a Republican Neocons hate more than Scowcroft). Anyway, my point is that it seems that as Bush 43 gets deeper and deeper, he's getting Dad's buddies to help him out. Not just Gates, but James Baker, too. Getting in too deep and getting dad's friends to bail you out seems to be a pattern with W.
One more quick election thought. I'm going to miss Rick Santorum (R-Man on Dog). Sure he's a douche, but he was fun to kick around.

Football
That's enough politics for a moment, I'm behind on my football. Since I last updated, there have been three big VT wins:
2006-11-04
17 10
2006-10-26
24 7
2006-10-26
36 6

That's more like it. They've been good wins, too. The wins over Clemson and Southern Miss were well played all the way around. The win against Miami took quite a bit of luck. However, they were all clean wins. No stupid fighting, no personal fouls, no other garbage. Just good football. I wonder how the guys at The Wizard of Odds feel about This Post? Probably not too bad, at the time I felt the same way.

Weis is a big blubbering vagina
Heavy C over at The Lazy Eye was right on with this post about Coach Butt-in-the-front. I'm a little late getting this up, but ESPN's Page 2 lays the smack down. Here's a tip, Charlie: If you want to be taken seriously, don't schedule Army, Navy, Stanford, Air Force, and UNC all together. And when you do play them, stop giving up so many points. 26 to the Tar Heels? I wouldn't trust your defense to save me a place in line.
