Wow, I have been slacking. I haven't posted since before the UVA game, and it's been a couple of weeks since that one ended. No matter, I'm sure you know that the Hokies put the lumber to their in-state rivals and wrapped up a 10-2 season. They finished on quite a hot streak, and I would argue were the best team in ACC at the end. Which is a little frustrating, since they had to sit out the ACC championship game. Oh well, GT and WF did what they had to do to get there and more credit to them for doing so. Besides, Wake Forest winning the conference is kind of exciting. Anyway, the final game score was:

  • Win Percent
Here's an interesting link showing winning percentages over the last 50 years.

  • College vs. NFL
Yet another article comparing college and NFL football (via Fark.).

  • ACC coaches
There's been a lot of ACC coaching changes. Carolina-centric Bob Lee Swagger considered Davis of UNC and O’Brien of NC State, and what this means for the rest of the ACC. I enjoyed this graf:

You can understand Frank Beamer not shivering in his brogans. Frank is 12-3 alltime versus Butch/Tom COMBINED. Ol’ Turkeyneck has stared at both of’em across the greensward and they’ve blinked lots more than he has, but Frank is the exception. When measured against most Div 1-A Head Coaches, Butch Davis and Tom O’Brien score pretty darn high marks … now they are backyard rivals in a cozy little blood feud that means a lot to the locals.

  • Lee Corso
Way back on 2006-08-30, I posted this picture:

I called that the best Lee Corso picture ever... but this one might be just as good (via The Wizard of Odds.):

  • Terrorism
Finally, what would The Cabal be without a little politics. It seems that we just convicted a serious terrorist, but it doesn't seem to be cracking the news cycle.

So imagine how much publicity there would be if the government were to catch and convict a would-be bomber who was known to belong to a terrorist organization, who idolized the mastermind behind a previous terrorist attack in the US, and who plotted to use chemical weapons or a dirty bomb to kill thousands. A terrorist who plotted attacks on a federal courthouse and even on Washington D. C. If we were to catch someone like that there would be... there would be.... (sound of crickets chirping)

    Why no news converage?

So, why would a terrorist who plotted to blow up a dirty bomb in the US capital fail to draw national attention? He was the wrong kind of terrorist.
The group Crocker belonged to was the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement. The terrorist mastermind he admired was Timothy McVeigh. And the people he most wanted to kill:

Crocker told Adams he wanted to kill the black population of nearby Jackson, Tenn., with mustard gas

Right wing terrorist who wants to kill blacks? Sorry, not news.

    But there is good news:

There's one other thing Mr. Crocker did to keep himself low on the list of discussion topics for Fox & Friends: he got arrested without use of the Patriot Act or secretive wire tapping. The sheriff's department nabbed Crocker the old-fashioned way. Legally. [emphasis original]

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone. I'm out for family and the Peach Chick-fil-A Bowl. See you next years!
