Project 87' 250x
This page is about a 87 250x i am currently rebuilding .
There were a few problems with this quad , like the bearings are trash.....the
3rd gear doesnt work, the motor barely holds oil..... the rocker arms are SHOT,
sounds like a machine gun when it runs! :-/
Heres what it looks like.
I have done ALOT to it since this pic, and i will be updating this page as i rebuild the X.
I took the motor appart, and the 3rd gear shift fork and gear are shot. that is why it doesnt stay in 3rd gear and pops out.

after i assembled the 92' 250x tranny into the 87 cases.
EEEK look at the rocker arms!
the
part where they rub on the cam has grooves and makes alot of noise while running.
bought a 300ex rocker arm cover and rocker arms.....from ebay ofcourse. These were in excellent shape and fit into the old 250x cover.
new parts include :
92 250x tranny (used ,from ebay)
All new gaskets/o-rings,
300ex rocker arm cover and rocker arms,(excellent shape) should stop the horrible
ticking noise.
lets hope it will now shift into 3rd gear......damn 87 tranny had problems.....this 92 tranny should fix it!

finished......doing the adjusting the timing right now.
Finished, and runs/shifts great.
