Family Medicine is the office of Drs. Lorena Wade and Daniel Cannon, located on
Brooklet Street near the Mission Hospitals campus. Jennifer, Kristy, and Gloria
are their courteous and professional staff, and will assist you in receiving the
best care possible.
Patients
may receive the quarterly Voth Family Medicine e-mail newsletter, with practice
news and health information. To subscribe to the newsletter, simply e-mail us
your name with the message "subscribe me".
Practice Philosophy
Our goal is to give patients the best possible care by
blending modern evidenced-based practices with common sense and realistic goals.
We believe in patient autonomy, and encourage our patients to take an active
role in their health. Good health begins with a healthy lifestyle.
Scope of Practice
We provide comprehensive primary care for people of all
ages, from newborns to seniors. This includes preventative care, physical exams,
urgent care, and management of chronic illnesses. When hospitalization of our
patients becomes necessary, we admit patients to Memorial Mission and Saint
Joseph Hospitals and provide ongoing care during the hospitalization.
Procedures
In our office we perform EKG's, mole and skin lesion
removals, laceration repairs, splinting and casting of orthopedic injuries, Pap
smears, endometrial biopsies, and IUD insertion/removal. Laboratory tests are
drawn in the office. For procedures that we do not offer, we refer patients to
the excellent panel of specialists in Asheville.
Insurance
We
try to keep up with the many changes in the world of insurance, but feel
strongly that you are ultimately responsible for understanding the details of
your particular coverage. We are participating providers with the following:
Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Care Savings, Medicaid, Medicare, Medcost, United
Healthcare, and several but not all plans administered through Crescent. If you
have a plan that is administered through Crescent you will be responsible for
verifying your coverage. We only file insurance plans that we participate with.
Those of you not covered under the above plans will be responsible for the bill
at the time of service. Special considerations can be made, so please inform the
office staff before staff before your appointment of your situation to avoid any
misunderstandings. We are not currently accepting new patients with Medicaid or Medicare.
