Piece 'O Cake ("Petey")

Petey is a 16.0 hand, year 2000 plain bay Thoroughbred gelding. I bought him at Suffolk Downs in October 2003, about one month after I lost Riley. I looked at almost 30 horses and just kept coming back to Petey's stall. I think Riley was leading me by the shoulders to him. Petey was not one of the fanciest horses there, but I liked the way that he was put together and loved his trot. He raced seven times and never won so his owner sold him to me for a song.

Petey has turned out to have all the good qualities that Thoroughbreds are famous for -- athleticism, smarts, bravery, a "just do it" attitude, high energy, and a great sense of humor. He has adapted to the good life on my farm and with a ton of training (and a bit of luck), will become my next event horse.
