"The Beginning" 5-19-01

This being the very beginning of my artists journal I thought it would be the right place to tell you a little about where I have come from, where I wish to be, and what I hope my thoughts do for you. More than likely, this will be my most lengthy entry as I try and give you all the base information I can.

I have kept journals since I was about 17. I have always felt that they allowed me to express my most inner thoughts, figure out my problems by hopefully writing in solutions. Book after book has been "almost" filled and then stored in places I am not even sure of. Being that I am 33 and averaged 2 journals a year that makes approximately 54 little books of thoughts & kind of scary to think that they lie somewhere between my folks house in Maui and my residences here in Los Angeles.

Anyhow, what my intentions are for this on-line journal, "A day in the life of an artist" , is to be just that. I think that it is interesting to read how other people work and how their day is led. Everyone has different things going on and while I do not presume that I live this fantastic fantasy life of an artist truly do live a life of an artist and it isn't always fabulous but often magic does happen.

So from time to time I will compose entries that will reflect on what I am doing, what I am feeling, and any other "interesting to me" ideas. I hope that you will find them interesting too but if you don't then so be it. One can only live the life that they are experiencing at that moment. I am not writing fiction so some weeks are less exciting and some more stressful. I only wish to write what is happening in my life as an artist in the year 2001. At this point, I am working hard on getting this site up. I also am waiting for a call to do some scenic painting for the film industry. I was blessed with an opportunity to get into the industry and at this point I recently finished a film where I got 25 of the 30 days necessary for my union card. The cool thing about set painting is that it is freelance allowing me the time off I crave and it pays very well which supports my art and these sorts of ventures.

Things are quiet now so I am going a bit stir crazy but in the end I am thankful to be able to get my web site complete and the way I want it. I have been doing quite a bit of traveling about lately first going to Ensenada, Baja and just recently I returned from a road trip to Oregon and down the California coast in my 64 Buick Special named "Myrtle" (she is a very sassy girl).

Look for comments on these trips in my page called travels.

In order to not make this entry as long as it could be I have made links to other portions of this story. I can think of know other way to update you of 33 years with out putting you to sleep. So if you'd like to...read on:
