Solstice Farm is committed to helping restore the critically endangered Orlov-Rostopchin (Russian Riding Horse), originally developed as elite dressage, jumping and hacking mounts. This breed was nearly lost during the world wars and the Russian revolution.

To increase the gene pool, our breeding program implements and compliments the Russian strategy of recruiting outstanding individuals from breeds originally used to establish the O-R. North America is graced with excellent candidates who exemplify the O-R type. These horses and their offspring are then infused with the blood from the Russian Stud.

The goal of Solstice Farms is evolving from breeding to training and promoting the Orlov-Rostopchin at shows.

Lois Aller is the dressage trainer at Solstice Farms. In 2005, without any show experience, we took the horses to their first shows and earned 65 - 68 % intro level, usually winning their class - mostly in the ribbons.

For sale are a few horses confirmed under saddle, several youngsters lunging and just being started under saddle, and stunning 2-year-olds and yearlings with awesome pedigrees. A few foals will be born in 2006: mares are for sale in foal to imported Akhal-Teke Alp, imported Friesian Ritske, imported Oldenburg Caruso, and our home-bred Orlov-Rostopchin stallion. Not all the horses for sale are posted on this site. Please email your interest if you do not see what you are looking for. We'd be happy to let you know if we have what you are seeking, or refer you to someone who does.

Breeds for sale: Orlov-Rostopchin, Akhal-Teke crosses, Trakehner, Oldenburg, Bashkir Curly, Pinto Sporthorse, Appaloosa, Saddlebred, Arabian, and Thoroughbred.
