VERY EARLY PALE BLUE FRAMED MEDALLIONS.
Wonderful framed set of solid jasper pale blue medallions that are
very early 19th, possibly even late 18th century. They came with a
collection of other very early pieces and the mark and style indicates
this. The medallions are all curved to the rear with sharp, smooth,
flat edges (not rounded as the later ones are). Each medallion
has a different relief of classical scenes. The individual
medallions are held in the larger frame by gold gilded brass frames held
in with tiny brass screws. The gilding is almost totally intact with
the exception of # 4 where there is some loss. The framing itself is
quite old.
Size: (Frame) 15 3/4" long, 8 1/4"high.
(Medallions) 2" high, 1 1/2" wide.
Marked: Wedgwood only in all upper case letters with
serifs,
Ca. Late 1700's - Early 1800's
Condition: Absolutely MINT.
