pup_alex2.jpg (9547 bytes)ALEX was born in July 1998 and lives with Peter Vukovics in Hungary. Alex has grown a lot since he came home in a shoe case from his breeder.  Peter is taking Alex to obedience classes. He joined MEOE (Union of Hungarian Dog Breeders) and began to train in a nearby training center.  So far Alex is able to walk on leash, sit down, lay, stay at a point, come, and apport a toy on command.  Peter describes what "apport" means--"At the center we form a line to teach our dogs apporting. From left to right each dog is offered a ball or a nice toy to apport. Alex seem to be watchful to other balls as well, sometimes he can not sit on his tail and blasts off for other balls. At those occasions he brings me 4 or 5 extra balls too." On top of that Alex is the smallest dog there. Peter can see him improving every week.

Alex loves to sleep on Peter's  "dog trainer trousers".  If Peter has to leave him alone he will wait for him laying on his jeans. Alex loves to play after the sun sets.   "I think he is a re-incarnation of an Indy Car (Formula One as we say in Europe) because when it gets dark he begins to run and run and run so he makes rounds at an extremely high speed. That lasts approximately half an hour around the kitchen table."

As he gets older somehow he becomes overwhelmingly curious. He can spend hours sitting on the backbday_alex.jpg (17976 bytes) of a sofa to watch the traffic through the window. But his preferred leisure time activity is watching TV. He is a David Attenborough fan. When there is a movie on nature his place is in the first row. Deers, ducks, jackrabbits and other dogs are his favorite stars on TV. Once he barked at Peter for switching the channel. He also likes travelling. He often goes to the weekend-shed at lake Balaton. When they say 'Alex, we go by car',  his tail'd be raised and he makes a beeline to the car waiting for a lift to enter. He’s chosen the rear screen as a seat.  The last time Alex was at the lake he realized he likes swimming.

Peter says, " I don’t know whether I was able to express at least a part of the fun he’s making everyday in every moment, but believe me he does! I enjoy it soooooooo much and will never stop loving him."

If you enjoyed reading about Alex, please email Peter.  He would love to hear from you.
