A life so young released to heaven
Here on earth we wonder "why?"
But some were sent among us briefly
Some have spirits meant to fly

Wesley 12 weeksWesley was the most intelligent dog I have ever known. He not only understood everything you were saying, but could read your mind. He always seemed to know exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it. He had the darkest eyes and when you looked deep into them it was like you could see into his soul. There is no way words can describe what he meant to us and how much we miss him. He taught us so much about life, about strength and courage, about facing each day no matter how difficult, to keep doing what you have to do and finally about letting go. His memory and his lessons are with us everyday. He waits for us now at the Rainbow Bridge.

Wesley 2 yearsHe loved: to play ball- he was an expert catch!   Go for walks, track critters, bark at squirrels, play chase around the yard, watch over Wendy, chase waves and play hide and seek.
He hated: flies in the house (I think he started it!), UPS trucks, the dryer buzzer, the vacuum, going under viaducts in the car, and the electric shaver.
He liked to sleep: On "his" chair, on a pile of clothes (towels or bedspread), on mom and dad's bed by our feet.
        Favorite treat: cheese
Favorite toy: his ball (he had many, but there was always a special one he needed)
Greatest adventure: When he went for a horse and carriage ride and tried to jump out.
Silly nicknames: The Blaster, The Patrol   Officer, Wester Chester.

the only living puppy of that cross
you were special from the start
        and that was apparent

        such an eager little puppy
you were always ready to learn a new trick
even if the reward was a pat on the head

always obedient and smart as a whip
        you became human
having birthday celebrations with cake and gifts

        never jealous or mean
the new puppy treated as an equal
you loved her as much if not more than we did

        big dogs beware
        nobody intimidated you
not even low flying hot air balloons

        so personable and such personality
you threw the ball at us when you wanted to play
and answered our questions when we didn't know what you wanted

        your radiance ever apparent
even on your death bed your brilliance shown through
to those who didn't have the pure pleasure to know you in health

memories of you will never fade
you made deep impressions in our hearts and minds
that can never be etched away by time or filled by others that come after you

        full of life and love
you lived every day to the fullest
you lived a hundred years in eight short ones

        you were simply special
        you were simply loved
        you were simply Wesley

Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you.
That is how I know you go on.
Far across the distance and spaces between us
You have come to show you go on.

Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime,
And never let go till we're gone.
Love was when I loved you, one true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on.
