From the Book...

"The first thing you have to do is take the negative out of those thoughts. Organize the positive and you won't be worried about the day."

Firm and motherly, it hit a raw nerve. "Please, Mrs. MacIntosh, don't assume I am thinking negatively. I've taken on a few more responsibilities and one case is not as easy to deal with as others." Stronger than my usual voice and not intended to reveal I was upset with Rosie.

"Point well taken, but I'm not assuming, dear. You are wearing your signs today as creatures of habit do." Another wistful sigh.

Okay, I would take the bait; she had a hook that I easily grabbed. Why not? We had the remaining half of our walk to complete and the conversation might distract me from my worries, "Just how do I wear my 'signs', Rosie?"

"Without sounding like I am criticizing, it is quite simple. You dress in gloom and carry your negative thoughts deep in those pockets of yours. So simple, dear."

"I'm not a fashion hound, Rosie. Casual wear is what I am about and you know with this work, it doesn't make sense to wear anything else." Clearly stated, I thought that was enough and it was certainly my truth. Rosie wouldn't take less.

"Sure, dear, I hear you. But your sense of casual generally comes in two moods. Dark and semi-dark, and I don't mean chocolate. Shall I go on, dear, or just let it simmer?"
