This was my Chevelle. I built it from the ground up. I had always wanted a 72 Chevelle. I found this one advertised in the news paper in August 1985, for $600. it needed a lot of work, it had to be completely restored, it had frontend damage, but I thought it was worth fixing up. so I took it home. |

I was able to save the front bumper and grill. but the hood was history. I painted it red with black Super Sports Stripes in 1987, I kept the black vinyl top, I realize now that was a big mistake. these pictures were taken in 1988, in the Cascade Range. 30 miles east of my home. |

The interior was completely shot. except for the Dash and the tilt steering columm. I built a center console which housed the stereo system and guages. This Chevelle had factory tinted windows. and power everything. I found a set of 15 inch Cragar wheels, and put Dunlop, GT Qualifers on them. Adding a front sway bar, and Big Block Springs (station wagon springs) to the rear, gave it the perfect lift. |

In 1992 I rebuilt the engine. Small Block 350, mostly to stock spec's. I added a aluminum Edelbrock high rise intake manifold, and a polished aluminum Holley 650 c.f.m, Double Pumper Carburetor. it got horrible gas mileage, but the performance was fantastic. I drove it everyday, untill 10-23-98. when it became the victim of vandalism, and rust, I discovered massive amounts of rust under the vinyl top, and into the trunk and quarter panels. The only clean metal left was the front clip. :(:(:( A sad end for a nice car. One more Classic Chevelle, sold for parts... |
