The Willmar Aquatic Racing Stingrays is a nonprofit corporation promoting amateur competitive swimming in West-Central Minnesota. We are governed by Minnesota Swimming, Inc. a LSC (local swim committee) of the national organization USA-Swimming. We practice at the Willmar Senior High School Pool and offer programs for youth from near beginners to extremely advanced competitive swimmers. Stingray swimmers must:
  • be able to swim in deep or shallow water
  • be able to swim the front and back crawl the length of the pool without resting
  • be mature enough to listen to and follow directions

Minnesota Swimming, Inc. has over 7,000 registered athletes (boys and girls) participating on more than 70 clubs across Minnesota and 3 counties in adjacent Wisconsin. Competition is available for all ability levels from novice to National Championship. MSI boast an Olympic Gold Medalist - Tom Malchow - who won gold in 2000 after winning silver in 1996. For a number of years, Tom was a world record holder in the 200 meter Butterfly. He swam for STAR and St. Thomas Academy.

If your kids swim, there is also a place for you to volunteer as officials, club representatives, etc. Become involved to make the sport and Minnesota Swimming better. The best place to catch all of the action at a swim meet is right at the pool's edge. Training to be a timer takes less than 5 minutes!
