The Wisconsin Mfd Home Owners Association encourages
you NOT to BUY a manufactured home. The building process,
both on-site and in the factories, is about cutting corners—using
inferior quality sheathing, cutting boards too short to meet
in the center of studs—problems that promote irregular
air exchange within a house and which eventually produce growth
of mold and excessive heating bills.
Additional problems: fraud, misdealing, false
statement, improper assembly, illegally based seizure of homes,
defective set up, worthless warranties, and suspect consumer
protection.
If you are unfortunate enough to get caught in
this malignant Pandora's Box as an unsuspecting consumer, you
will find yourself immersed in an endless war that will consume
the rest of your life and your life's income. You will get no
satisfaction from HUD or even some legislators and state agencies
because many have been corrupted by the MH industry—they
have been bought off with big money and the heady power of control
over millions of victims.

The industry is represented by the WMHA (Wisconsin Manufactured
Housing Association), newly renamed the Wisconsin Housing
Alliance (WHA) since 2006, which has over 700 (organized) members
(park owners, dealers, manufacturers, community managers) and
a paid lobbyist. Remember that WIMHOA and your
Chapter are bucking the power structure--that makes what you
do political because it is about POWER and who has it.
- Power (money) only respects numbers and force
(public opinion).
- We consumers will be a "force," when we
collectively organize.
- Our strength is in our numbers, when we
organize ourselves.
-
- CONSIDER THIS: To
get anything done politically, it takes lots of people,
lots of money, and/or lots of public persuasion using the
media. Because WIMHOA typically has few people
and little money, our only recourse is the Press.
-
-
OUR ONLY POWER is the PRESS, so USE IT and don't let
up. MAKE EVERYTHING THEY DO PUBLIC
NEWS. That means you must communicate with your
members regularly using flyers, email, phone calls, etc.
When the Park complains, YOU are being
SUCCESSFUL! So pat yourself on the back!
-
- DO NOT fall for that old saw that Park
Operators/Managers complain about--that the Homeowners
Association is making their business look bad!
HA! WHO jacked up the rents? WHO
let maintenance go to hell? WHO has been
intimidating residents? When THEY are complaining,
YOU ARE DOING DAMNED GOOD and are EFFECTIVE.
-
- Make no mistake—every relationship is political,
whether it is personal, public, or business.
Money primarily separates the haves from the have-nots (them vs. us). This
includes homeowners who are educated buyers—or non-buyers
of an inferior product.
- Politics is about power—and power is about money
and numbers. This makes WIMHOA's advocacy political.
Don't underestimate your adversary! They will use
every trick in the book against you, so give them no
quarter.
