Sgt. Nathan R. Field, 23, of Lehigh, Iowa., Field was assigned to the Army Reserve's 4249th Port Security Company, Pocahontas, Iowa., died in Umm Qasr, Iraq, on Jan. 7, when their HMMWV was hit by a civilian vehicle. The incident is under investigation.
Maj. Stuart M. Anderson, 44, of Peosta, Iowa., died near Tal Afar, Iraq, on Jan. 7, when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed. Anderson was assigned to the Army Reserve's 3rd Corps Support Command, Des Moines, Iowa.
Spc. Daniel L. Sesker, 22, of Ogden, Iowa, died in Bayji, Iraq on April 6, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations. Sesker was assigned to the Army National Guard's Troop C, 1st Squadron, 113th Cavalry in LeMars, Iowa.
Staff Sgt. Mark A. Wall, 27, of Alden, Iowa,died in Mosul, Iraq, on April 27, from a non-combat related cause. Wall was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Tharp, 44, of Muscatine, Iowa, died July 12 as a result of enemy action when his dismounted patrol was struck by an improvised explosive device while operating in the Al Anbar province of Iraq. He was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25, Rock Island, Ill.

No. 126-07: Cpl. Stephen D. Shannon, 21, of Guttenberg, Iowa, died Jan. 31, in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was hit by a rocket during combat operations Jan. 30 in Ramadi, Iraq. Shannon was assigned to the 397th Engineer Battalion, Wausau, Wis.
No. 199-07: Spc. Travis R. Vaughn, 26, of Reinbeck, Iowa.Vaughn was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Ky. They died Feb. 18 in southeastern Afghanistan when the Chinook helicopter they were in crashed.The incident is under investigation.
