This coming Saturday at the Holmen American Legion Post No. 284, the Grande Voiture will meet for our Fall Cheminot. It starts at 1:00 P.M. All Committee and Program reports from the National Promenade given by the respective Voyageurs who attended the Committee Meetings. And of course we'll hear about anything special that happened.
Program Directeurs will also be given a chance if they choose to give a status report on their program Please make every effort to attend this very important event.
Box Car Roundup Chairman Mike (Preacher) Klump, Dennis Moe and Dick Wallinger will be collecting American Legion and Forty & Eight membership this Saturday at NOON in conjunction with the 2009 Fall Cheminot. All American Legion memberships collected that day will be presented to our Wisconsin American Legion Department Commander Leo Endres at the Grand Chef de Gares Testimonial later that evening.
Awards will be presented on membership excellence in both Legion & Forty & Eight memberships turned in at the Midwinter Petite in New Richmond.
Pierce County Voiture 904 will hold its wreck on Saturday, November 7 at the Ellsworth American Legion Post. PG's should be at the Post by 11:00 A.M. and the festivities will commence at noon. There will be a lunch and social time after the wreck is concluded.
A number of questions and inquiries have been sent to the Grande Voiture Headquarters concerning the Midwinter Petite in New Richmond this coming February. This much I know. It will be held on February 12th-14th. National Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer Preston Olson of South Dakota will be our special guest.
Alternate Cheminot National Ron Pfalzgraf of the Distinguished Guests Committee will be escorting Preston around that weekend.
The Grande Cabane will meet across from the Headquarters Hotel at Susanna'a. The Grande Voiture will meet at the new American Legion Post. That is also the site of the Friday.
We hope that this weekend at the Fall Cheminot, there will be representatives from St Croix County No. 1485 who will answer questions and pass out forms for registration, hotel reservations, and Ad's for the booklet.
The Sept-Oct issue of the Badger Forty & Eighter had just two magazines returned to Grande Headquarters due to incorrect addresses. This is the lowest total we have received since I have been Grand Correspondant. (August 2005)
Once again; when there is a death or an individual does not renew their dues, I need to know so they can be deleted from the Badger Forty & Eighter mailing list.
There will be a quick meeting of the Grande Voiture Finance Committee following the Fall Cheminot. Grand Commissaire Intendant Jim Romnek would like to go over a very pleasant situation that occurred. The solution is pretty obvious but we need to come to this conclusion at a Committee. So we need Grand Chef de Gare Al Ross, Grand Correspondant Tom Orval, Grand Commissaire Jim Romnek, Grand Sous Commissaire Intendant Dale Peterson, and Committee members Al Johnson, Roger Oleson, and Gary Dotzauer.
Seems that there is a large amount of Voyageurs and Dames who are going to be in Onalaska already this coming Friday. We'll set up a hospitality room in the main lobby Friday afternoon.
