First Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1892 in the town of Elmore, Alabama. It is one of the oldest churches in the town of Elmore. First Baptist is currently under the leadership of the Reverend Willie James Morgan, Jr. The mission and motto are: Mission We the Pastor and Members of the First Missionary Baptist Church, having entered holiness by the blood of Jesus Christ are consecrated in newness of life. We engage therefore to draw closer to Christ with a true heart in full assurance of our faith, purged from an evil conscience, having been baptized of water and of fire. We engage to hold fast to the profession of our faith without wavering. We also engage to care for one another in love and good works. Furthermore, we are to forsake not the assembling of ourselves together, exhort one another, and strive for winning of souls, as the day of the Lord approaches.
