HOME              ABOUT INTARSIA

“INTARSIA”

Intarsia is an ancient Italian woodworking method for making 3-dimensional pictures in wood. Often these woods are between 1/4" and 1 3/4" thick, and can be of several different species in the same piece. The colors and grain patterns on the wood are carefully chosen to enhance the design.

Each piece is hand crafted as well as unique due to the grain of wood chosen for each piece.  Hundreds of sculptures to choose from.

No two pieces are identical. No oils are used. Each piece of wood is chosen for its natural color.

Solid craftsmanship, cherished and enjoyed by generations.

Some of the types of woods used in intarsia sculpting:

·        Western Red Cedar

·        Oak

·        Ebony

·        Aromatic Cedar

·        Quarter Sawn Oak

·        Poplar

·        Walnut

·        Pine

·        Maple
