Hobo Pies

Here is something that is a big hit with the kids at our camp. There is a device  you can buy that you use to make toasted sandwiches in, they are called by several different names depending on where you find them. Some are called Hobo Pie Makers, Tonka Toasters, Camping Pie Makers and Minute Pie mold. They are either round or square and you butter two slices of bread and place them butter side down in the pie maker. Then you fill them with the filling of your choice, anything from pie filling to ham and cheese, close them up and place into the coals to cook.   The nice thing about them is that the kids can make one when ever they are hungry and want a snack, or to make a toasted sandwich for lunch.
Let your imagination run wild! We make pizza pockets, ham and cheese, turkey and broccoli, sausage and egg and canned pie filling is a big hit for desert . Be sure to try one, you will not go camping without one or two of them with you  again!!!

There is a web site that sells them on-line, here is the link to it so you can check them out. Welcome to Minute Pie Mold
You can also find them in K-Mart and Wal-Mart in the sporting goods section of the store.
