Hello all, thought that I would give you just a little background on myself. I have been morel hunting for over 25 years now and have lived in Northern Michigan all my life. I live in East Jordan, Michigan about 80 miles north of Traverse City and I do most of my morel hunting within 50 miles from my house. I hunt only on public land so there is no problems with land owners and let me tell you, there is a lot of state land to wander around on. Most of the hunts take place in the Chandler Hills area west of Boyne Falls, Michigan and this area is considered to be one of the finest morel growing spots in Northern Michigan, bar none.

Please wear a pair of well broken in hiking boots or shoes, long legged pants (Levis are good), a long sleeve shirt, a hat (if you wish), water, bug spray and bring a mesh bag to place your morels in. An onion or orange bag works great and wicker baskets rate right up there too. Also - NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES PLEASE! Booze and walking up and down ridges do not mix!
