Photograph was taken 05-05-2007 after a walk in Pigeon River State Forest. From left to right we have friends of mine Della and Steve, my brother-in-law Dave and yours truly, Rocky.

Steve (the Wings fan) and I on 5-24-2008 after walking in Chandler Hills

Steve and I went into Chandler Hills yesterday and found a few nice whites and grays, but we had to travel and look in a lot of woods until we hit a spot where it had been a while since anyone had been there. Hope to get back out today, but will have to wait until tomorrow I fear. The morels are up, but there are a lot of people in the woods so expect competition as you head out there.

Happy hunting!

Howdy all, went out in the rain today and did OK, picked grays and yellows and the hunting should be outstanding over the next week with warm weather on the way. Here is a picture of some found, go out and get yourself some!

We had good rain here over the last several days and yesterday I went out with a client and we did well with a mixed bag of large blacks and average grays with a few yellows tossed in. The mushrooms found were all fresh, the grays were just up with a number of them not through the leaf cover yet. The picking should be good to outstanding over the next week with the grays coming in full force and the yellows kicking in, but we are on the downside of the black season I think, depending on the location being hunted. I have a wedding to go to today so I will not be able to get out, but I will be attempting to hit the woods as often as possible over the next week and I will be sure to post the results.

Happy hunting!

A couple friends and I went out yesterday for a peek around the woods and we managed to find a nice batch of blacks, the ones we picked were all fresh and some were very nice! There are a lot of false morels that were just coming up too, I don't pick the "caps" (what we call the false morel) but some do and they could have picked a bunch!  It was sprinkling off and on so I didn't take my camera to get some pictures, but I will be taking it along from now on when I can to try and get some nice pictures to post.

It is raining now and has been since early morning, this should really help kick the mushrooms into high gear around here. I will be going out looking again soon, hope to see you there!

Happy hunting,
Rocky Clark

Well, the 2008 morel season is under way and we went out yesterday for the first time to look around a bit and did manage to find 50 black morels and one gray morel. We just got some warm rain the other day and a few sprinkles yesterday and this should kick in the mushroom and the picking should be good over the next week.

Happy hunting!
